Befriending Service
The Befriending Service aims to tackle the problem of loneliness and isolation among older Chinese people living in London.
Befrienders pay visits to those in need at their home in the London area. They act as companiosn to individuals, someone they can talk to, who will listen sympathetically and provide constructive response. Visits are always agreed in advance with individuals or their family.
Telephone befriending is offered to those who enjoy chatting with someone over the phone from the comfort of their home.
Because befriending involves supporting someone who is isolated, we assess volunteers carefully. Befrienders will receive training, supervision and support for the role.
